CRANECAM  Suggested by Beryl and Brenda at the Orca Community, this streaming, panning cam with great stereo sound comes from the Rowe Sanctuary in Nebraska's Platte River Valley.  See and hear the wonderful mating dances of the Sandhill Crane, as a half million roost on a five-mile stretch of the river. Can be played in Realplayer as well.

EAGLECAM   Live from Blackwater Refuge in Cambridge, Maryland.  See Osprey Cam below for Blackwater's perennial favorite, the Osprey cam.

FALCONCAM  The peregrine falcon nesting project at the Rachel Carson State Office Building in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania marked perhaps the biggest single environmental event ever presented through live video on the web attracting over 34 million hits. An excellent cam with sound, panning, and top-notch streaming. Should open up in RealPlayer.  Watch the season and enjoy the mating, egg hatching, and baby falcons. Read more here.

FLAMINGOCAM  Lots of flamingos at the National Zoo.

LOONCAM   Donna from the Orca Community suggested this cam which sounds great.  It is a live streaming cam with sound.  Too early in the season in Maine but this looks like a keeper.

OSPREYCAM   Here is our old favorite from the Blackwater Refuge in Cambridge, Maryland.  Enjoy watching the returned pair raise a new family.  Very nice cam to become familiar with.

OSPREYCAM  Suggested by Jon at the Orca Community, this excellent streaming cam from Brookhaven, New York, has sound and an intimate look at the osprey soon to nest and start a family. This cam compliments of the Dennis Puleston Osprey Fund.

OWL CAM      This has two cams which give you are very intimate view of barn owls. Baby owls on the horizon! The nestbox is located in Benicia, California, in The Historic Arsenal District.

PENGUINCAM  Posted by Towhee in the Orca Community this automatic-updating cam comes direct from the German research station "GARS O'Higgins" at the northernmost tip of the Antartic peninsula. See donkey penquins in a clear large photo-like cam picture which updates every few minutes. Icebergs drift by in the distance.   To read the information in English, open Google and click on language tools, etc.

ST. JAMES RESERVE BIRDFEEDERS  Located in Southern California's San Jacinto Mountains, the Natural Reserve System's James Reserve is at the forefront of an effort to use high technology to gain insight into the natural world. Embedded cameras monitor the nesting cycles of birds, sensor networks track weather data on habitat microclimates, and computers map out the potential damage from wildfires.

STORKCAMS   Beryl from Orca Community found these unbelievably painting-like cams of storks in Germany providing a very close-up view.  There are 2 cams. They update every 30 seconds. Really beautiful cams. Look for eggs and baby storks soon. (German time zone).

STORKNESTCAM    This great cam has great streaming video and stereo sound and comes to us from Vetschau, Germany, situated in a region called "Spree forest".  The opening day of the cam this year had a terrific thunderstorm.  Lots of song birds and a rooster crowing as well.

ANIMAL CAMS
(incl. 2 'Aurora' cams plus others)

THE TES ELE-CAM   Here is the wonderful cam from The Elephant Sanctuary in Hohenwald, Tennessee.  Keep watching and you too will be able to identify the elephants.  Always surprises and wonderful moments.  Keep checking it and you will be rewarded!

WILDTIERE WILDLIFE CAM (GERMAN TIME ZONE)  Here's a really terrific cam from Germany.  It is a first-class streaming cam of a wildlife park where you can see and hear -it has stereo sound which lets you hear all the remarkable sounds the deer and other animals make- a variety of animals and birds.  The sound is so sensitive you can hear a deer sneeze.  Sometimes you can see a whole herd of wild boar run past, something I've never seen before.  Check out the site for all sorts of things, and if you want, you can translate the site with the translator in Computer/Tech.  Note the time zone.  Here in the Northwest the best time is from about 10PM to 8AM.

NATIONAL ZOO PANDACAM 1   This is the Adam and Eve in Paradise Garden of pandas. Mei Xiang and Tian Tian are a wild and crazy couple who will tickle you with their zany antics.  They love to wrestle in the morning, have a brunch picnic in the meadow, and a long snooze afterwards.  The cooler the weather, the more active they become.  When it snows, they are in ecstasy!  They go sledding, Tian Tian using Mei Xiang as a sled, zooming down the hill and crashing into the wall at the bottom. Then they race up the hill and repeat their fun.  In the Spring, they make love, which really has to seen to be believed. Then sleep. On Sundays, they get their ice cream treats. Tian Tian usually insists on finishing up Mei Xiang's ice cream, but she doesn't mind (too much). Warning: they are addictive!

NATIONAL ZOO PANDACAM 2    More of the same!

ATLANTA ZOO PANDACAM    Lun Lun and Yang Yang are the Tristan und Isolde of Pandas, yearning to be with each other all the time.  But the zoo often has contrary ideas, often keeping them separate for reasons only known to them (a good reason to e-mail them to ask: WHY?) They are very loving and affectionate friends and when they are together, their cuddly ways are irresistable. Weekdays from 9AM to 5PM EST.

MEMPHIS ZOO PANDAS When you click on the Pandacam icon, it may ask if you want to install an Axis plug-in (install). Not a great stream, no sound, and you can't load it into your other players, but worth checking out.  They are pretty cute!

ORCA-LIVE CAM  A These two cams can be pretty exciting at times, and just plain gorgeous.  Be sure to right-click so you can play in your RealPlayer to make it any size. The sounds are often terrific.  Sometimes several pods of orca meet and it is amazing.  Quite often you can also see Humpback whales and porpoises and seals, not to mention various fish.  One of the bet site in the world, I think you will agree! (Season re-opens in the Spring). And be sure to enjoy the Orca Community Board HERE.

ORCA-LIVE CAM B

AURORACAM  Live from Aurora, Alaska, this cam turns on at night and enables you to actually see the wondrous Aurora Borealis! Put it on Full Screen, shut out the lights in your computer room, and prepare to lose some sleep!

AURORACAM2 Poker Flat Research Range is the world's only scientific rocket launching facility owned by a university. Poker Flat is located approximately 30 miles north of Fairbanks, Alaska and is operated by the University of Alaska's Geophysical Institute under contract to NASA's Wallops Flight Facility, which is part of the Goddard Space Flight Center. In addition to launching sounding rockets, Poker Flat is home to many scientific instruments designed to study the arctic atmosphere and ionosphere.

MT. ST. HELENS VOLCANOCAM  Definitely worth checking out every day.  Beautiful live and possible spectacularly explosive volcano in Washington State.

ADRIATIC SEACAM, SPLIT, CROATIA   One of best cams for colour and detail.  From the Institute of Oceanography, Split, Croatia.  Sometimes, usually Sundays, you can see sailboat races.  Remember, the time zone difference will often show you a dark screen, when it is dark there. When storms come up, the sky gets great clouds and colours

MT. WILSON SOLAR TOWERCAM  Captures an image every 4 minutes, 24hrs. a day from Mount Wilson Observatory, Mt. Wilson, California. (Page should refresh automatically).  Some beautiful scenes.  Sometimes in season you can see forest fires in the mountains. Rainbows, storms, snow, etc.  Check out "Best of the Towercam Page" at bottom of the site for some nice images from the past.

RACE ROCKS    Here are a few live cams with sound from the Race Rocks, located south of Vancouver Island.  At least Cam 1 has sound. Lots of wildlife. Click on Videocams. One is controlable.

SEA TURTLE CAM   TurtleLive was launched as an offshoot of Dr. Paul Spong's Nature Network concept. The relay station is located at Okierabu Island, a small island floating in southwest seas of Japan. Enjoy live imagery from underwater cameras setup facing a favorite Green Turtle resting spot 300 meters offshore, 7 meters below the water's surface. TurtleLive is conducted by students in the science club of Okierabu High School (the island's one and only), together with local residents.

RHINOCAM  From Cincinnati Zoo, here is a live streaming cam of Emi and Suci, Sumatran Rhinos, an endangered species.

SAN DIEGO ZOO PANDACAM
