"Niedersachsen" is the fed.state 'Lower Saxony'. North of it, you'll find the ('free')city of Hamburg...
and further north the upper fed.state 'Schleswig-Holstein' - which meet the border of (to) Denmark.

-hof  (Hof) - discribe a small or medium-sized farm.. and even though there is no farm anymore,
it is still a common word for the building(s) and/or the place itself !
( yet - the "name" moved with us.. allready 10 years back, when we entered our 'new' place.. no "farm" at all --- but surrounded by fields into 3 directons ! )
